Google has agreed to a $68 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit alleging that its Google Assistant collected and used user audio recordings without consent.

The allegations stated that Google Assistant can activate and record communications even when a user does not intentionally trigger the assistant, and wrongfully collects, uses, and discloses user audio recordings.

Customers who purchased a Google-made device in the U.S. or its territories between May 18, 2016, and March 19, 2026, may be eligible to file a claim before the Thursday deadline.

Eligible users can submit a claim through the settlement website, by calling 1-877-411-4704, or via mail by filling out a form and sending it to the specified address.
