Google Brings Android Apps to Laptops with Googlebook OS

Google has released Googlebook OS, an operating system that combines Android and ChromeOS to bring mobile apps and phone integration to laptops. This move aims to bridge the gap between smartphones and computers, making it easier for users to switch between devices.

The first Googlebooks come from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, with prices starting at $899 and available in stores on October 4 in the US, followed by several additional countries on October 5. The hardware will determine performance and battery life, but Googlebook OS is what makes these machines feel different from just another wave of Chromebooks.

One of the key features of Googlebook OS is its ability to seamlessly integrate with Android phones. With Continue On, Quick Access in the Files app, and Cast My Apps, users can easily transfer tasks between their phone and laptop, reducing friction during the transition.

Magic Pointer, another innovative feature, brings Gemini AI to whatever you're doing by simply wiggling the cursor. This reduces the steps needed to ask for AI help while working on a task, making it more convenient and user-friendly.
