Google Brings Gemini AI App to Windows 11 with Simple Keyboard Shortcut

Google has released its Gemini app for Windows 11, five months after it was first made available on Mac. The new app allows users to access AI assistance with a simple keyboard shortcut directly from their desktop.

According to Google director of product management Erin Pettigrew, the app is designed to work seamlessly alongside favorite tools and daily applications, providing instant assistance without disrupting workflow.

The Gemini app for Windows uses the Alt + Space keyboard shortcut for easy access, but users can also choose from preset shortcuts or create their own custom ones. The app offers a full Gemini experience, including a sidebar with access to chat history, Daily brief, image and video creation capabilities, document and media libraries, notebooks, and recent creations.

Users with a Google AI subscription can also access the Gemini Spark personal AI agent. Additionally, the app includes Nano Banana-based image creation capabilities and Gemini Omni-based video creation capabilities, although the latter requires a Google AI subscription.
