Google Chatbot Accused of Leaking Private Game Details

A game developer is accusing Google's Gemini chatbot of accessing private information from their Google Doc. The developer, who works on the tower defense game Operation Octo, claims that Gemini revealed a key detail about an upcoming character called 'Vantage Tripod' that was only mentioned in the private document.

The developer says they didn't share any information about Vantage Tripod with anyone except in the Google Doc. However, when a fan asked Gemini about upcoming volcanic ridge turrents/skeletons, the chatbot responded with both Vantage Tripod and Skeleton Dragon - characters that were not publicly known at the time.

The developer believes that Google must have scraped their private document to train Gemini. They point out that the game is not big enough for the AI to interpret online discussions in this way. Google, however, claims it doesn't use private Workspace content, including Drive and Docs, to train its foundation AI models.
