Google Clock App Gets Timely UI Overhaul

Google has rolled out a new UI for timers in its Clock app as part of the September Android Drop. The change affects how users view and interact with multiple timers, making it easier to see them all at once.

The old timer UI featured rounded numbers contained within a circular background. In contrast, the new UI has flatter, sharper numbers without a circular background. Presets for 1, 5, 10, and 15 minutes have been added near the top of the screen.

The start button has moved to above the number pad, making it easier to access. When multiple timers are set, they are now displayed in a grid pattern rather than vertically. The 'X' button that previously allowed users to close individual timers has been replaced by a handle at the top of each card, which can be slid down to reveal other timers.

This UI change is gradually rolling out in version 9.1 of the Clock app and appears to be a server-side update, requiring no action from users. The new design is currently visible on devices such as the OnePlus 13R.
