Google Cloud Growth Accelerates: A $1.3 Trillion Opportunity Unfolds
Google Cloud has become an increasingly important part of Alphabet's business.
The segment's revenue and profits have been accelerating rapidly, growing at a faster rate than Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.
In Q2 2025, Google Cloud's top line rose 32% year over year. This growth accelerated to 34% in Q3, 48% in Q4, and then surged to 63% in Q1 2026, followed by an impressive 82% growth in Q2 2026.
Google Cloud's operating income more than tripled year over year as well, making up 21.6% of Alphabet's total profits. If this growth continues, it's not far-fetched to expect that Google Cloud could produce half of the company's total operating income within the next two to three years.
The increasing use of AI has substantially increased the demand for compute, positioning Google Cloud well for the next few years. Artificial intelligence will be a long-term trend that will bring forth the mainstream use of self-driving vehicles and humanoid robots.
