Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google, has been leading the fight against California's proposed billionaire tax. He donated an additional $20 million to Building a Better California, bringing his total contributions to $102 million.

In an interview with The New York Times, Brin compared the tax to socialism and warned that it could create an oppressive society in California, drawing from his own experiences growing up in the Soviet Union.

The billionaire tax, known as Proposition 40, would impose a one-time 5% tax on California's 200 billionaires, with most of the revenue going towards the state's healthcare program. However, Governor Gavin Newsom opposes the tax, warning it could drive wealth away and shrink revenue for social services.
