Google confirms fix for Android Auto signal icon issue rolling out
Google has officially confirmed that a fix for Android Auto’s missing signal icon is now rolling out to users. The issue, which has plagued users for several weeks, caused the cellular signal icon to vanish intermittently from the Android Auto display. This display typically shows battery status, time, notifications, and cellular connection status.
A Google representative acknowledged the problem in a Reddit comment, stating that a fix is currently being rolled out. However, the update may take some time to reach all devices. For those eager to receive the fix sooner, Google suggested enrolling in the Android Auto beta program, though the program is currently full. Alternatively, users can sideload updates, albeit at their own risk.
Android Auto version 17.8 appears to include the fix, at least partially, and is now being rolled out via the stable track. This follows recent updates that seemed to resolve the issue for many users, but the official confirmation from Google provides further reassurance.
