Google Deploys Android 17 QPR1 to Supported Pixel Phones with New Features and Fixes

Google has rolled out Android 17 QPR1 to supported Pixel phones as part of its September 2026 Pixel Feature Drop. This update brings new features, interface changes, security updates, and bug fixes.

The most noticeable visual changes include more translucent blur effects throughout the system, including the volume panel, power menu, app folders, and other interface areas. Material 3 Expressive gets more visible with these changes.

Under the surface, the update addresses 20 Pixel-specific bugs across various areas, including apps, Bluetooth, camera, graphics, framework, telephony, and user interface. The fixes include issues causing game lag, higher temperatures during graphics-heavy tasks, notification display problems, crashes involving external displays, and mobile network connectivity issues.

Pixel owners can check for the update under Settings > System > Software updates > System update. Because Google is rolling out the release in phases, the update may not appear on every eligible device immediately.
