Google Ditches Google Assistant for Gemini AI
Google is phasing out its popular Android app, Google Assistant. Introduced nearly ten years ago, the tool allowed users to interact with their devices using voice commands. However, last year, Google announced that it would replace Google Assistant with Gemini, a more advanced virtual assistant that utilizes up-to-date artificial intelligence technology.
In an email sent to users, Google notified them of the impending change and instructed them to switch to Gemini instead. The company stated that it will start removing access to Google Assistant from September 4th, although the transition process may take several weeks to complete.
The shift will not only affect mobile devices but also other connected gadgets like smartwatches and earphones paired with Android devices. Google assures users that Gemini can perform similar tasks as Google Assistant and understand the same voice commands. However, it emphasizes that the new assistant offers more natural interactions due to its advanced AI capabilities.
