Google has been fined €403 million (R7.5 billion) by Ireland's Data Protection Commission for its handling of location data in three settings.
The commission found failures in lawfulness, fairness, transparency, accountability, and retention of some location data between May 2018 and February 2020.
Location History, Web & App Activity, and Location Accuracy are the features at issue. The Irish regulator examined web & app activity, location history, and location accuracy over this period.
The Data Protection Commission ordered Google to bring its processing into compliance within six months.
