Google has announced that its web conferencing platform, Google Hangouts Meet, will now be interoperable with competitors Microsoft Skype for Business and video conferencing systems from Cisco and Polycom.

This means businesses will soon be able to join meetings on Google's platform using these competing tools. Additionally, several competing vendors are working with Google to integrate their video conferencing systems with Google Calendar, allowing users to schedule and join meetings without downloads or plug-ins.

This move underscores Google's commitment to competing with Microsoft Office 365 in the enterprise collaboration market. The consumer tech giant continues to invest in G Suite's cloud-based applications for web conferencing and team messaging while embracing integrations with a wide range of vendors.
