Google Honors Dolly Parton with Butterfly Tribute Animation
Google has launched a tribute animation to honor country music legend Dolly Parton after her passing at age 80. The animation, which can be seen when searching for her name on Google, features a butterfly and the phrase 'We'll Always Love You, 1946 - 2026'. This Easter egg feature is a nod to Parton's famous song 'Love is like a Butterfly', as well as her childhood memories of chasing butterflies in the Smoky Mountains.
Parton died at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville on August 25 after a brief battle with cancer. Her representatives confirmed that she had been hospitalized since August 21 and did not specify what type of cancer she was battling.
The outpouring of tributes to Parton has been immense, including the Empire State Building lighting up pink in her honor. The animation on Google is just one example of the many ways people are celebrating her life and legacy.
