Google has made a change in its Local Service Ads (LSAs) that is affecting how phone numbers are displayed and tracked. According to Anthony Higman, who first reported this issue on September 1st, even when the Google Ads number is set as the tracking number, the LSA is still showing the Google Business Profile number instead.

Higman has been calling out this issue since September 1st, and he claims that Google has confirmed this change twice. In a response to one of his tweets, Google said that 'If you are utilizing both location and call assets, ads featuring specific business locations may direct calls to the phone numbers associated with those locations rather than those set within your call assets.'

Higman pointed out that this is causing problems for businesses trying to track their ad performance. He noted that if they use location assets, they will lose the ability to track calls from ads.
