Google Maps has updated its application to reflect President Donald Trump's recent order renaming Lake Ontario as 'Lake America' for users in the United States.

The change, which is part of an ongoing trade war with Canada, comes after Trump issued a similar order last year renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

According to Google, the decision was based on its long-standing policy of using names assigned by the U.S. Geographic Names Information System (GNIS).

The update is rolling out now and will show 'Lake America' for users in the US, while those in Canada will continue to see 'Lake Ontario', and those outside the two countries will see both names.
