Google Opens Up Video Generation Tool to All With New AI Models

Google has expanded access to its video generation tool, Vids, making it free for anyone with a personal or Workspace account. The company has integrated its latest AI models into the platform, including Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash-Lite, which allows users to generate 1080p videos at no cost. This move is a significant shift from the initial intention of Vids as a tool for professionals, and it marks another step in Google's efforts to make its AI-powered video generation technology more accessible.

The latest update also includes Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite text-to-speech, which will soon be rolled out in Vids. This model is designed to convert scripts into voiceovers for generated videos, supporting over 100 languages. Google has emphasized that users may want to check out its Google AI plans for more access, but the company has not specified any limits for free users.

It's worth noting that any video created using Vids will have a SynthID digital watermark embedded in its frames. This watermark is a standard feature of Google's AI-generated content and serves as a way to identify the source of the video.
