Google.org has announced a $9.5 million funding initiative to support organizations developing AI tools for educators. The goal is to empower millions of students by enhancing the capabilities of teachers through technology.
The funding will be distributed across five organizations. The City University of New York will use the funds to advance the Computing Integrated Teacher Education (CITE) initiative, focusing on digital and computational literacy for educators. Fab AI, in collaboration with Google DeepMind and the Gates Foundation, will develop open models to assist teachers in lesson planning and early reading support.
Other recipients include the Krause Center for Innovation, which aims to integrate responsible AI education into classrooms, and Teaching Lab, which is piloting Coherence OS, a system designed to provide real-time support for teachers and school leaders. Additionally, 1EdTech Global will work on building public infrastructure for trusted learning standards.
This initiative underscores Google.org's ongoing commitment to supporting educators and students through innovative AI solutions.
