Google Photos Gets Four New Features: Wardrobe, Redact Pen, Moods, and Gemini Spark

Google Photos has continued to upgrade its features over the years, and in September 2026, it introduced four new features that make photo editing and management easier.

The first feature is called Wardrobe, which uses AI to curate a digital closet of your clothes. It extracts images from your library where you appear wearing different outfits and organizes them into categories like dresses, tops, pants, and accessories. This feature is available for users in the U.S., Brazil, and India who have over 1,000 photos of themselves.

Another new feature is the Redact pen tool, which allows users to hide sensitive information from their images using a pixelated effect instead of drawing over it with a solid color. This tool is currently exclusive to Android devices and has started rolling out globally.

The third feature is called Moods, which uses generative AI to apply unique filters to your photos based on the style you choose. It offers options like Rich textures, Night lights, Retro contrast, 2000's night, and Crisp 35mm, among others.

The fourth feature integrates Google Photos with Gemini Spark, an AI agent that helps users with complex tasks like batch editing photos. Users can type natural language prompts to edit their photos in bulk, such as making all their pictures from yesterday look brighter or cropping the best ten photos from a specific event.
