Google Pledges €13 Billion to Finland's Digital Infrastructure
Google has announced its largest single investment in Europe, a €13 billion commitment to Finland's digital infrastructure and clean energy. The investment will span two years and support the growth of Google's core services, including Search, Maps, and Gemini.
The project is expected to create over 37,000 jobs nationwide during the construction phase in 2027 and 2028, contributing €3.6 billion annually to Finland's GDP. Once operational, the facilities will support thousands of permanent positions across various roles, from engineers to security and catering staff.
Google is also investing €31 million into local communities over four years, partnering with colleges to offer AI upskilling programs for 4,400 workers and providing training opportunities for 100 Finnish students interested in data center careers. The company has signed a 22-year agreement to support the life extension of the Loviisa nuclear power plant, adding new onshore wind capacity and investing in a 94-megawatt battery system.
