Google Pushes Out Minor Update for Pixel Devices with Fix for Face Unlock Issue

Google has released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6.1 for compatible phones, including the Pixel 11 series devices like the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. This update comes just five days after the release of Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6 on September 24.

The previous update addressed several bug fixes, including a significant issue causing phone reboots when scrolling through content. Other issues fixed included letterboxed content leaking into the status bar during app transitions and a Pixel 9 Pro Fold bug causing reboots after using third-party camera apps.

The latest update is relatively minor, with Google not explicitly listing any changes in its release notes. However, one notable fix has been confirmed for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, related to an issue possibly tied to Face Unlock. Users may need to re-enroll their face unlock after installing this beta software.

Additionally, HiLight for Messages is now enabled as part of Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6.1. This feature allows users to choose a color for their favorite contacts and toggle messages alongside calls. Although new color customization options were previously discovered, they are not currently available with this update.
