Google has signed a massive power deal with Constellation Energy, securing 3,590 megawatts of electricity to support its operations. The agreement, announced on October 6, 2026, includes a 20-year power purchase agreement for 890 megawatts from multiple nuclear power plants owned by Constellation. These plants, located in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, will undergo upgrades to increase their output. The first upgraded plant is expected to deliver electricity by 2028.

The deal also involves a long-term supply agreement for an additional 2,700 megawatts of power from Constellation within the PJM Interconnection grid. This power is not tied to a specific generation source but provides long-term revenue certainty for Constellation's operating plants. The total investment from Constellation is projected to exceed $4.3 billion, adding capacity at several nuclear reactors in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions.

Google's move is part of a broader trend among major tech companies to secure large-scale electricity supplies to power data centers across the US. The deal aligns with PJM's proposal requiring data center customers to either bring their own power or risk being shut off during peak demand. Constellation Energy, based in Maryland, is the largest US nuclear power plant operator and also owns a significant fleet of natural-gas-fired power plants.

Amanda Peterson Corio, Google's global head of energy and power, stated, 'We’re committed to meeting our growth responsibly by actively investing in clean, reliable power that brings new capacity to our nation's grids.' The agreement reflects Google's strategy to invest in clean, reliable power sources to support its expanding data center operations.
