Google Slams SerpApi for Bypassing Anti-Scraping Tech
Google has renewed its battle against SerpApi, filing an amended complaint alleging that the Texas-based company bypassed attempts to prevent scraping search results.
The move comes after U.S. District Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers dismissed Google's original complaint in August, ruling that Google could not pursue claims for most of the material on search result pages.
Google alleges that SerpApi used a workaround to bypass its 'SearchGuard' technology, which was launched last year to prevent scraping by bots. The company estimates it receives hundreds of millions of artificial search requests each day from SerpApi.
Reddit also faces claims against SerpApi, alleging that the company obtained copyrighted Reddit posts from Google's search results without permission.
