Google has acquired talent from Mechanize Inc, a San Francisco-based startup specializing in AI model improvement. The tech giant completed its talent deal with Mechanize, public postings show. As part of the agreement, Tamay Besiroglu, co-founder and former CEO of Mechanize, now works as a research scientist at Google's DeepMind division.

Over a dozen former Mechanize employees have joined Google, mostly working on the company's mid-training efforts, which are crucial for building effective chatbots. The final terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Business Insider previously reported that Google was in talks to acquire Mechanize's tech and talent for over $1.5 billion.

Mechanize's technology focuses on improving AI models' coding abilities, an area where Google has struggled lately. The acquisition is part of Google's strategy to gain an edge in the AI race through talent deals rather than full-fledged acquisitions.
