Google Solar Farm Deal Spat: Entergy's Trade Secrets Claim Foiled
Entergy Arkansas has lost its bid to block the reporting of a $526 million deal between Google and Entergy. The agreement involves Google paying Entergy to help build a solar farm to power its data center, as well as another $190 million for transmission upgrades.
The details were revealed through documents obtained by resident Jessica Kivell through a Freedom of Information Act request and shared with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Entergy claimed that the PSC 'mistakenly disclosed' trade secrets protected by a services agreement between Entergy and Google's front business, Altitude Capital LLC.
However, U.S. District Judge Lee Rudofsky of Little Rock ruled that the utility's request was essentially a prior restraint on the organization's First Amendment rights.
