Google Takes On New Space in Watertown's Arsenal on the Charles Complex
Google has taken on new space in Watertown's Arsenal on the Charles complex. According to permits issued by the City of Watertown, Alexandria Real Estate Equities is renovating the space at 200 Talcott Avenue for Google.
The former life science lab space was previously occupied by Werewolf Therapeutics before it merged with Ambros Therapeutics in September. The merger may still be in progress, but the old lab space is already being prepared for a new tenant.
Building permits show that Google has leased 35,000 square feet of the over 50,000 square foot building. The approved plans include a mix of office space and standard life science wet lab spaces.
Google confirmed a lease at Arsenal on the Charles through its subsidiary Verily, which is focused on life sciences. It's unclear what will be going into the space, but Google has a history of investing in local companies as a venture partner rather than opening up their own labs directly.
