Google Teams Up With Georgia Power to Boost Nuclear Reactor Capacity

Google has partnered with Georgia Power to upgrade two existing nuclear reactors in Georgia, USA. The project will increase the power output of Plant Hatch and Plant Vogtle by 96 megawatts, making it a significant addition to the local grid's zero-carbon capacity.

The deal comes as tech companies face growing electricity demands from data centers while maintaining strict climate commitments. Nuclear power offers a continuous supply of clean energy, which is an attractive option for these firms.

According to Aaron Mitchell, Senior Vice President of Strategic Growth for Georgia Power, the project aligns with their Customer Protection Pledge, enhancing grid reliability and creating savings for all customers.
