Google Tests 'Call for Me' Feature on Pixel 11, Lets AI Handle Routine Phone Calls

Google has introduced 'Call for Me', an early experiment in its Gemini Intelligence feature on the Pixel 11 series. This feature allows users to have Google handle routine phone calls, such as booking appointments or checking if a hardware store has a specific item in stock.

The feature is reminiscent of Google Duplex and will be rolled out to Gemini subscribers using the enrolled in the Phone by Google beta on the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, and 11 Pro Fold in the US. Users can call on their behalf using the Gemini app, which will introduce itself and handle the conversation with the person on the other end.

Google emphasizes that it will 'respect the time of the neighborhood shops and front-desk staff answering the phone,' and that calls made by Gemini represent real customers conducting real transactions.
