Google Tests Conventional Projects Feature in Gemini Desktop App

Google is testing a conventional Projects feature for its Gemini desktop app.

The new interface allows users to create dedicated spaces with custom instructions and reference files, keeping related chats together.

This addition mirrors the existing Projects setup on Gemini Business, where users can add custom instructions and files, and all chats belong to that project.

The feature appears separate from Gemini's NotebookLM-linked notebooks, which also collect sources, instructions, and conversations.

Google's internal testing suggests a broader availability is planned for the new Projects feature, but no release date has been confirmed.
