Google Unveils September 2026 Android Updates with Key Feature Enhancements

Google has released its September 2026 system updates for Android phones and tablets. The updates include various changes to Google Play services, Play Store, and other first-party apps.

The most notable changes are in Account Management, Location & Context, and Wallet. In Account Management, there is an improvement to supervision on phones and wearables. A new infrastructure has been added to the Kids Auth Module to manage regulatory compliance notices on Android.

In Location & Context, safety status information will be added to shared locations in the location sharing API. This update also enables NFC to add physical transit card passes and balances to Google Wallet on phones.

Other changes include bug fixes and maintenance for Android System Intelligence. The updates are available now, but some features may not be widely available yet, as they can take months to fully launch.
