Google to Invest Up to $12 Billion in Marvell for Custom Chips
Google is taking its AI ambitions to the next level by partnering with US chip firm Marvell. The tech giant plans to invest up to $12.2 billion in Marvell shares over the next decade, as part of a deal that will see the two companies collaborate on custom-built semiconductors for Google's AI infrastructure.
The investment will be made through 2033, with Google purchasing up to 59.97 million shares of Marvell stock at $206.58 per share. The partnership aims to create more efficient and powerful chips that will continue to fuel Google's AI growth.
Marvell's stock has seen a significant spike following the announcement, as investors react positively to the news of Google's involvement. This is not the first time Google has shown its commitment to AI development, having built Google Gemini as one of its flagship models and integrated it into other products like Google Search.
