Google has agreed to pay $68 million to settle a lawsuit alleging its Google Assistant recorded personal conversations without prompting. The settlement affects those who purchased qualifying devices or lived in homes with Google Assistant-equipped devices between May 18, 2016, and March 19, 2026.

The claim deadline is Thursday, August 27, 2026. To file a claim, individuals must provide their contact information and declare whether they purchased a device or lived in a household with one equipped with Google Assistant.

Qualifying devices include Google Home, Home Mini, Home Max, Nest Hub, Nest Hub Max, and Pixel smartphones. Each qualifying device is worth four points, with a maximum of 12 points per individual. The second group, the 'Privacy Settlement Class,' receives one point each.
