Google Unveils Expanded Play Age Signals API

Google is expanding its Play Age Signals API to developers worldwide after initially launching it in Brazil and select US jurisdictions. The system now targets users in Australia and Canada, with a broader rollout scheduled for mid-August. By year's end, the feature will be available globally.

The API allows Android apps to request age ranges or parental-supervision status without requiring users to enter their full birthdate. Parents can share a child's age range through Google Family Link, while adults can consent to sharing their age signal when an app requests it.

Age information is not shared by default and parents can change or disable sharing through Family Link. Developers remain responsible for deciding how apps use the returned age ranges to adjust content, features, or safety controls.
