Google Unveils Glowbar on New Googlebooks with Developer-Friendly Features
Google has introduced a feature called Glowbar on its new Googlebooks. This feature is reminiscent of the Chromebook Pixel from over 10 years ago, which had a glowing light in Google's colors.
The Glowbar serves as more than just an aesthetic addition; it provides users with feedback and notifications. Unlike the HiLight feature on the Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, the Glowbar offers additional functionality. It lights up when you open or close the laptop and shows battery charging status.
However, the most interesting aspect of the Glowbar is that Google plans to open it up to developers. This is a departure from their previous stance with HiLight, where they explicitly stated that there were no plans to allow third-party access. The Glowbar's functionality will be expanded beyond its current limited capabilities.
When purchasing a Googlebook, customers receive a free year of Google's AI Pro plan and NVIDIA GeForce Now. This includes the 5TB Google One plan and provides users with extensive usage options for Gemini.
