Google recently hosted an event called The Android Show: I/O Edition, which took place on May 12, ahead of Google I/O 2026. The show was focused on Android news and provided a warm-up for the main event. One of the biggest announcements was Googlebook, a new class of laptops from Google and its hardware partners.

Googlebook comes with Magic Pointer, an AI-powered mouse cursor that suggests contextual actions based on what you're pointing at. For example, hovering over a date in an email can set up a meeting using AI. Users can also install Android apps directly on their laptop without needing extra downloads or touchscreen controls.

Another feature of Googlebook is the Glowbar, a thin light strip on the back cover that displays Google's logo colors. Google Auto has also received some improvements, including the ability to carry over your phone's Material 3 design language and add custom widgets to your dashboard.
