Google Unveils High-End Googlebook Laptops Starting at £999

Google has unveiled its first line of Googlebook laptops, which run on Android and come with Chrome browser support. The devices are priced starting at £999 and will be available from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo.

The Googlebook laptops feature Intel Core Ultra and Qualcomm Snapdragon X series CPUs, 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and up to 14 hours of battery life. They also come with a 12-month trial of Google AI Pro and 5TB of cloud storage.

Google markets the devices as having a minimum of 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, up to 14 hours of battery life, and weights of under 1.29kg. Acer, ASUS, and Lenovo's models use Intel Core Ultra CPUs, while Dell and HP use Qualcomm Snapdragon X CPUs.

Some experts question whether Googlebook can succeed as a high-end replacement for ChromeOS devices. If it can gain strong app support and deliver a solid PC experience, Googlebook devices could replace Windows laptops for many users.
