Google Unveils Live Avatars for Conversational Brand Experiences
Google has introduced Live Avatar, a conversational AI model that allows brands to create avatars for their websites. This feature is built on top of Google's Gemini 3.8 Live model and integrates near real-time live dialogue with video generation and speech.
The goal of Live Avatar is to give companies distinct visual identities to fit their brand, according to a blog post by Google. The avatars act in a natural way, using facial expressions while looking, listening, and speaking in natural language with the user.
Live Avatars are backed by Gemini's advanced reasoning, allowing them to trigger calls for specific tools and receive data in the background while continuing an active dialogue. Brands can either use a library of pre-made avatars or customize their own, but this is only available through enterprise allowlisting.
