Google Unveils Voice Assistant Modes for Gmail, Docs, and Keep

Google has rolled out AI-powered voice assistant modes for its popular apps Gmail, Docs, and Keep. The new features, called Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live, enable users to manage these apps using only their voices.

Gmail Live allows users to surface information from their inbox without having to dig through lengthy email threads using keywords or subject lines. For example, a user can ask 'when is my kid's next school event?' and the voice assistant will pull that information from wherever it was sent to the Gmail inbox and feed a summarized version of it back to the user verbally.

Docs Live, on the other hand, helps users format their ideas into structured documents based on conversational descriptions of what they need. It can also pull information from other Google apps like Gmail, Drive, and Chat to personalize its outputs.

The new features were previewed at Google I/O in May and are now rolling out globally to mobile platforms in English starting today. Gmail Live is available on iOS and Android for users on Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra plans, while Docs Live and Keep Live are coming to AI Pro and Ultra plans.
