Google Wallet has evolved into a one-stop destination for various services, including contactless payments and digital IDs. The digital ID feature is particularly useful for domestic flights, allowing users to bypass the need for physical identification at select TSA checkpoints in the US.

To create a digital ID in Google Wallet, users must have an Android device with version 9 or later, a screen lock set up, and Bluetooth and Nearby devices enabled. The process involves taking photos of their ID and recording a short video of themselves. Users can add their passport by scanning the chip on its back, but this requires NFC support.

The digital ID is then verified by the issuer before being added to the app. It's essential to note that these IDs aren't universally accepted and should be used in conjunction with physical identification.
