Google's AI-powered features have been drawing content from digital publishers for almost a year now. According to The Information, around 100 publishers are part of this program, which pays them for their contributions to AI Overviews, AI Mode, and the Gemini chatbot. However, the payments vary widely among these publishers.

Some small and midsize blogs receive less than $1,000 over several months, while others earn significantly more. One publisher reportedly received between $50,000 to $60,000 in a few months, while another earns over $1 million annually. The payouts depend on how much each source contributes to an AI answer.

Despite the varying amounts, some participants told The Information they're unsure of how Google calculates their payments. Moreover, these can change from month to month without explanation. Publishers with content on niche topics like anime and gaming appear to earn more.
