Google's AI Spreads the Word About Lily Ray's SEO Win

Lily Ray, a well-known search consultant, won the #1 SEO World Champion award at SEOktoberfest 2026. The event was held from September 20 to 25 at the Stanglwirt resort in Austria, where 55 industry experts and attendees gathered.

Ray wrote about her win on September 28, 2026, on her consultancy's website Algorythmic. She described SEOktoberfest as a private, invite-only meeting of 50 top SEO minds, where 'expert' and 'newbie' speakers share their best work from the year.

Google's AI answer box quickly reflected Ray's win, citing her own post as evidence. The answer box even listed Ray as the #1 World Champion after SEOktoberfest 2026, crediting the title to the event and adding three bullet points about her achievement.

However, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that Google's AI was simply parroting what it found on Ray's website. The answer box contained errors, such as listing an outdated job title for Ray and compressing the location of the summit to just 'Austria', rather than the more accurate description of Munich and Austria.
