Anthropic Unveils $518 Billion AI Spending Plan
Anthropic, an AI start-up behind Claude, has revealed plans to spend $518 billion in the next decade on cloud computing and AI infrastructure. The company's prospectus details that 80% of this spending is non-cancelable or requires Anthropic to pay even if it doesn't use the services.
The vast majority of this money will go to Alphabet, Amazon, and Microsoft, which are mentioned in the prospectus. Alphabet is poised to get the largest share, with $111.1 billion of the spending going to Google over the next decade. This helps explain why Alphabet has been so bullish on capital expenditures.
Amazon comes just behind Alphabet, with at least $110 billion going to Amazon over the next decade. Anthropic and Amazon are working together on Project Rainier, a massive data center complex that uses nearly 500,000 AWS chips.
