Google's Hidden Vault Feature Saves Tech Specialist from Buying an App

Oluwaniyi Raji, a tech content specialist, had been storing sensitive documents on his phone for quick access. However, having them scattered across storage and accessible in plain sight bothered him.

Raji initially considered buying a vault app to secure his documents but discovered the Files by Google's Safe Folder feature instead.

The Safe Folder encrypts files, locks them behind a PIN or pattern, and seals them when switching away from the app. Raji reset the folder and used it in combination with smart search, which indexes document contents for searching, and the built-in scanner to digitize his papers.

Raji found that using these features together made it easy to organize and secure his documents without needing a separate vault app.
