Google's Pixel Update Locks Users Out of Their Phones

Google's latest Pixel update has been plagued by a lock-screen issue that's locking some users out of their phones. The September 2026 Pixel update, which was supposed to bring new features and bug fixes, has introduced a problem where some Pixel owners are unable to access their devices using their usual pattern or PIN.

A small number of users have reported the issue on Reddit, with one Pixel 10 Pro XL owner saying that their pattern lock would reset after only two dots were entered. Another user reported that their Pixel 8a registered a PIN after only one digit and then displayed an incorrect PIN message.

The issue appears to be limited to a small number of devices so far, but has caused frustration for those affected. Google has reportedly contacted some users through support discussions to gather more information about the problem, but has not publicly confirmed the lock-screen bug or announced a dedicated fix yet.
