GPS Instability Grounds Embraer E2 Jets Worldwide

A GPS instability issue has disrupted Embraer E2 jet operations worldwide, affecting around 200 aircraft operated by 24 airlines. The problem is linked to Honeywell's Primus Epic 2.0 avionics system.

Azul, Porter Airlines, and Virgin Australia were among the operators impacted by the issue. Azul temporarily grounded a large proportion of its E2 fleet on Tuesday, causing disruptions throughout the day before flights returned to normal in the evening.

Embraer said it was working with operators and Honeywell to investigate the problem and provide technical support, stressing that while the issue could disrupt airline operations, it did not constitute a flight safety hazard. The manufacturer noted that E2 aircraft have navigation systems and procedures to operate even in conditions of GPS instability.
