Grass Fire Breaks Out Near Google Data Center in The Dalles, Oregon

A wind-driven grass fire broke out near Google's data center construction site in The Dalles, Oregon on August 18, 2026.

The fire burned near River Road and Interstate 84 Exit 82 overpass, south of the freeway, and drew multiple fire engines and wildland firefighting rigs to the area.

Firefighters managed to get the blaze under control by about 1:15 p.m., but the cause remains under investigation. No injuries or structure damage were reported.
