H-1B Consultancy Fails Worker: Visa Stamping Refused Under 221(g)
An Indian H-1B worker shared their frustrating experience on Reddit after their visa stamp was refused under 221(g) due to lack of proof from their consultancy. The worker, who has nearly three years of experience, had their visa put on 221(g) in April 2026.
The consultancy failed to provide a client letter, which is required for visa stamping. Instead, the worker only submitted vendor verification letters and supporting documents like timesheets, paystubs, and W2s. Despite this, their stamping was refused, leaving them without a valid visa at the end of their contract.
The case has been stuck in this status for five months, with the possibility of clearing now being lower due to the worker's contract having ended. Experts explain that 221(g) is used when additional verification is needed, and the lack of client proof is likely the reason for the refusal.
