Hard-Working Texan Carl Stroebel Dies at 79 After Brief Cancer Battle
Carl Wilbert Stroebel passed away on August 1, 2026, at the age of 79, after a brief battle with stage IV metastatic cancer. Born on July 1, 1947, in Cisco, Texas, to Carl William Julius Stroebel and Ella Murl Hallmark Stroebel, he was raised in the Lutheran church.
Carl graduated from Cisco High School in 1965, where he played trombone in the band. He later attended Concordia Lutheran College in Austin, Texas, before meeting his future wife, Linda Carol Winkler. The couple married on April 20, 1968.
With a strong work ethic and a commitment to responsibility and discipline, Carl worked as a data entry programmer at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, and later for Bosco and Greener & Sumner, focusing on computer programming and account management. He also managed the family farm, where he raised cattle and tended peanut crops.
