HashKey Secures JPMorgan Approval for Client Funds Account
HashKey Exchange has secured approval from JPMorgan Chase to open a client funds account, giving the Hong Kong licensed crypto platform another banking route for customer money segregation and US dollar settlement.
The move marks a significant development in HashKey's institutional expansion efforts since listing in Hong Kong in December 2025. The exchange raised gross proceeds of HK$1.607 billion ($206 million) from its IPO, with JPMorgan serving as one of the joint sponsors.
According to HashKey, this approval makes it Asia's first licensed digital asset exchange approved for a JPMorgan client funds account. However, it is essential to note that licensing does not guarantee a platform's performance or creditworthiness, as stated by Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).
The new account will enable HashKey to hold customer money separately from its operating funds, meeting the SFC's requirement for licensed virtual asset platforms to keep foreign currency client money in segregated accounts denominated in the same currency.
