Hatteras Venture Partners Bolsters Leadership with Key Appointments
Hatteras Venture Partners has made two key appointments to strengthen its position in the healthcare industry. The firm, based in Durham, North Carolina, has named Sir Andrew Witty as Chairman and Norman 'Ned' Sharpless Managing Director.
Sir Andrew Witty brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles as CEO of GlaxoSmithKline and UnitedHealth Group. He will lead the company's investment strategy, while Sharpless will head Hatteras Discovery Innovation (HDI), which aims to create new companies around promising early-stage science.
The appointments coincide with the first closing of Hatteras Opportunity Fund II, which targets $100 million in commitments and brings the firm's total capital under management to over $1 billion. The fund will provide concentrated follow-on investments in existing portfolio companies approaching significant clinical, regulatory and commercial milestones.
