Home Depot Beats Q2 Expectations Amid 'Frozen Housing Market'
Home Depot's second fiscal quarter results beat expectations on both revenue and earnings. The company reported adjusted earnings per share of $4.92, exceeding analyst forecasts of $4.73. Revenue came in at $47.86 billion, also surpassing the expected $47.27 billion.
CFO Richard McPhail attributed the success to a continued investment in strategy execution and serving customers better every day. Despite 'frozen housing market conditions,' Home Depot is taking share in both its pro and do-it-yourself businesses, with broad engagement across categories.
However, McPhail noted that customer hesitation remains due to inflation, fuel costs, and general uncertainty. This has led the company to reaffirm its full fiscal year guidance rather than raise it. The expected total sales growth for the year is between 2.5% and 4.5%, with an operating margin of 12.4% to 12.6%.
